Steve Marriott and Humble Pie. Revelation! Peter Frampton really spanks the six string and isn't actually a rubbish MOR star after all, and what a voice Stevie, say no more...
I've missed the last couple of posts being away, so tonight we're going 'omnibus', reefers and coffee and trying to explain to the cat that there was life after the Small Faces (He's such a snob about these things).
Thanks anonymouse...The Small Faces are sometimes seem I feel like a manufactured almost joke band in a way...with there ribauld lyrics and cockney accents, but the river runs much deeper than that. The breadth of their musical styles is incredible and with Steeve Marriott they had one of the greatest white soul voices of the 60's. Humble Pie promised a lot but in truth delivered little. Some good songs, but nothing compared to the Small Faces all the same. Thanks for your comment, Anthony
cottageorgan if you want to hear a great blues voice delivered by a white bloke listen to Roger Chapman and Family. A big hit was Burlesque but it's his distinctive voice that's remained with me over the years. Gargling with razor blades come to mind. Check him out on YouTube if you fancy hearing something different.
